How do I search the Internet?

If you want to know how to search the internet, then you have to find the right search engine, type in your search as accurately as possible, and browse through the results to find the one you want. You can search the internet for various things such as business information, weather, health information, agriculture and many more.  Below are nine steps on how to search the internet:

1.Open the browser on your phone. There are many browsers you can use including
– Google chrome
– Explorer

These can be downloaded online from play store when you have a phone or through the search engines as indicated in the next step.

2. Select a search engine. At the top of the browser page on your mobile phone, type the phrase “search engines” into the Search Bar to attain access to several different internet sites that specifically aid in searching. In this particular demonstration, we will choose the most common which is Google search. Other common search engines include:

• Ask Mobile
• Google search
• Yahoo search
• Bing mobile
• Opera
• Mini

3. After typing in whatever you want to search, press the Search key on the keyboard of your mobile phone

4.  Choose a few of the most specific or relevant keywords or phrases to describe the topic you want to search the internet about. Utilize synonyms. Type your choice of words into the Search Bar offered by your chosen search engine. Generally, writing in capital letters and punctuation is not needed. Please note that search engines usually disregard minor words such as “the, and, to, etc.”

5.  Press the Search key on your mobile phone keyboard to continue with your search

6. Assess your results. Search through your list of presented web pages to pinpoint information you need.

7.  Repeat the above steps as necessary. Choose a different search engine if needed, it could also be from the recommendations above or any of your choice. Choose new search words that are more or less specific.

8.  Use the Advanced Search found on most sites. For example, if you want to go to Advanced Search on Google, go here. Fill in the forms as much as you would like to search.

Smart tips on how to search the internet

1. Use unique specific terms
2. Most search engines do not distinguish between uppercase and lowercase, even within quotation marks. The following are all equivalent:
   • Technology
   • Technology
   • TECHNOLOGY
   • “technology”
   • “Technology”
3. Use the minus sign to narrow the search. For example, How-to-use-the-internet
4. Use quotation marks for exact phrases like ‘’How to use the internet’’
5. Remember you can also search the internet by images and videos. Look on the top most bar of image 5 above.
